It happens that a cat, just like a human, is overweight. To decrease the risk of illnesses linked to this weight gain, it is important to put it on a diet. However, the chosen diet but be well thought by the owner and the animal’s veterinary.
1. A balanced diet
It is useless to deprive the cat of food during its diet. However, it is important to reduce treats, which are full of calories and to increase low fat food which are full of fibres. Usually, those kinds of meals do not satisfy cats as they do not find their meals palatable. This is why it is advised to choose a diet high in proteins. It will compensate the decrease in fat, will avoid food and amino acids deficiencies and makes the food more palatable. However, it is advised to calculate the amount of food needed with a veterinary.
2. A hydration to supervise
The cat, just like human, may feel satisfaction by drinking a lot of water. This is why it is always important to give a high amount of water to your cat. A high water consumption will help its metabolism and will help it to quickly burn calories.
3. Exercise for an active cat
“Exercise” is the keyword for an efficient diet for the cat. It is important that its owner spends some time playing with it. Hence, the cat will be active and will burn calories. The cat will not spend its time getting bored and thinking about food and, over time, its appetite will decrease.
